A Hollywood Outing

Every once in awhile I have to do my boyfriend duties and actually escort my girlfriend out to some sort of event. Last night we headed to some sort of lounge / club in Hollywood called the Falcon.

A club or lounge is a perfect place to people watch. In my evening I have conclued the following

Cool

Randomly yelling: "THIS IS MY JAM!" to random songs.

Bad

Drunk, ugly and ho-ish women

Giving lap dances

DJ more or less playing cuts of a GirlTalk album.

Ugly

Throwing up dinner and drinks on the dance floor.

Full on gang brawl in the middle of the dance floor.

My New Commute

My commute no longer consists of a 10 minute drive or a 40 minute skateboard ride up the street. I have traded in that awesome commute for an hour long commute that consists of me driving through Korea Town and La Cienaga.

There are a couple of things that I have learned so far with my commute.

Even though my commute was like 2 miles in the heart of Glendale, I still come across more crappy drives in those 2 miles commute than I do in my hour long commute through the heart of LA.

You think your streets are ridden with potholes and neglected by CalTrans, try driving through my commute.

There are so many people selling t-shirts, food, dolls, etc out of the trunk of the car and apparently that is ok.

There are so many people selling t-shirts, food, dolls, etc out of the trunk of the car and apparently that is ok to the police.

Speaking of police, there so many freaking police in LA, I am surprised anyone would do anything stupid.

My commute takes me about an hour regarldess of the worst traffic or no traffic at all.

And just like that summer has come and gone. It has been a fun summer of good comics, Dodgers baseball and some good drunken evenings. I have created a mix of songs that to me encompasses this summer. I hope you enjoy the mix.

Momma's Boy - Elizabeth & The Catapult

Lisztomania - Phoenix

Band on the Run - Paul McCartney & Wings

Rapture - Blondie

Zero - Yeah Yeah Yeahs

You'll Find A Way (remix) - Santogold

Empire State Of Mind - Jay-Z

Don't Upset The Rhythm - Noisettes

You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift

Twist and Shout - The Beatles

Hey Ya (Acoustic Cover) - Matt Weddle

LA County Fair 2009

I am sure most of you remember my previous foray into the LA County Fair last year ended up in me consuming twinkies that were fried and dosed in some sort of chocolate sauce. Upon eating the whole thing, I am sure I lost a year from my life simply based off the pure concentration of preservatives and stuff you really aren't supposed to ingest.

This year was extremely fun. Denise and I rode on a few rides. The merry-go-round in the kids section was fun and easy. Then Denise wanted to step it up and go on the big people rides. I reluctantly agreed. Both rides were not created for the average human. Instead these rides were created for some iron stomach child who just so happens to be over 47" tall. Let's just say, I got my ass handed to me by those rides. While I sat horrified in my seats, Denise mocked me by having the time of her life.

Besides the rides, we got to meet the Budweiser Clydesdales. Let's just say their huge muscular arms, were larger than my whole body.

We also came across the kids exhibit where all the children who wanted to show off their artwork could do so. Let's just say it had me pissed off that children these days have no artistic talent what-so-ever. Not only do children today have no artistic talent, but judges have some weird non-sensical process to identifying which crap artwork deemed worthy to place. My guess is they threw all the paperwork onto a surface and a had a drunk blindfolded monkey throw darts.

As we were walking to the exit to call it a night, just like a dying sitcom wanting to grab enough attention to justify it's existence to a declining user-base, we happened to come across a mobile platform where on top of said platform a band playing funk music. I looked around as the mobile platform went up and down the major corridors of the fair and people seemed disinterested. I guess this was the norm when it came to the fair.

I had a lot of fun at the fair this year. I had my yearly huge turkey leg. I walked the fair and enjoyed the atmosphere. I attempted to avoid the carnies. All and all, this year's trip was a success.

As I am sure everyone else has, I have a favorite place to sit when I watch TV / play my video games. Some people like to sit, I like to lay down and lounge when I do said activities. My couch has the perfect view of everything, pillows to support my back and my head and enough space for my legs just in case a nap happens to catch me.

The problem is that my cat and I have the same exact favorite seat in the apartment. Whenever I get up off the couch to relieve myself of bodily fluids or replenish my body with sustenance I have to deal with Pam, my cat, who swoops in very Ninja-like to steal my seat. Coming back to my seat, I now have to deal with whether or not I want one of the inferior seats or be a jack ass and move a seemingly innocent cat who just wants to lounge back as much as I do. There is always a power struggle for the perfect seat and I am unsure how far the cat will go to secure the seat. For anyone that has cat(s), they know that they aren't dealing with simpletons, they are dealing maniacal crazed beasts that are capable of far worse than imaginations can conjure.

	My favorite seat:

Busted Tees a Shopping Experience

I looked into my closet one day and I saw that I had no shirts beyond my impressive collection of Studio City Day Camp t-shirts. Solution: buy new shirts. I have bought from threadless before but just didn't like the quality of their shirts. My girlfriend bought me a shirt from bustedtees before and I loved the cut and the quality (American Apparel shirt).

Logged onto to bustedtees</> and purchased a group of 4 shirts. I got an email a day later from Caroline at bustedtees saying that they didn't have 2 of my 4 shirts in stock anymore and I could pick from any 2 shirts no matter the cost to replace or simply cancel the two shirts that were no longer in stock.

If you have been a regular reader of austins-web (Tom, Denise, anyone else?), they will realize I love Jake & Amir and busted tees has a Jake & Amir shirt. Knowing that busted tees and collegehumor (home of Jake and Amir) were the same company, I asked Caroline if I could get the jake and amir shirt and have the two sign the shirt. To my surprise she was more than happy to fill my request. Not only did she get my shirt signed but the order was filled with some collegehumor ping pong balls and a sticker or two.

Moral of the story: Bustedtees knows customer support. They went above and beyond to fill my order and my crazy requests. Caroline from bustedtees deserves a raise.
